Dear Black People… Where’s the Unity? (And Happy Pride Month)

Dear Black people, Is your #blacklivesmatter inclusive of all Black folk? The Black community is a group of intersectional people who should be supported and lifted up without regard or prejudice based on identity. We can’t continue to be homophobic, transphobic, elitist, misogynistic, ableist, religion-ist (that’s not a word but you know where I’m going) and etc. when there’s a war against all Black people.

Take this time to consider how you will be a better, more inclusive, respectful person for our own people. You don’t have to agree with everyone’s lifestyle, but we must respect the humanity of our own (without the need to preach, judge, or shame). When we don’t do this, we are perpetuating racism and oppression and are to be blamed for the disparate status and plight of the Black community.

“United we Stand, Divided we fall”. Let’s work to be better humans intra-group. Namaste.
