Y’all are exhausting. Yes, we know colorism is real. Yes, we are aware that Senator Harris’ choices have not always 100% supported the Black community, but when has a politician ever!?; and why are we holding Black women to higher standards than their white and/or men counterparts?
We get it. She’s not your choice, but what you not gon do is take away from how ICONIC this selection and this Woman of Color is for Black America. Moreover, what you not gon do is disrespect this Black woman and perpetuate stereotypes of Black womanhood (mammy, jezebel, sapphire, etc) when addressing her or her relationships.
The senseless names don’t need to be repeated, but just know your lack of respect and value for Black women (especially those in positions of leadership) is anti-feminist and misogynist. Yes, there is still work to do, but “respect your muva” during the process. ✨
